- Society and environment–natural resource issues, property rights, social and environmental change, both internationally and domestically;
- Society and technology–use of computer and information technology to expand access to health care in rural areas;
- International development–property rights, gender and social change in rural Africa
- Politics and media–news media, propaganda, power, politics
- Social welfare–of particular interest are issues related to local hunger and relief efforts
Crudely, think of Sociology as a discipline that seeks to examine important concepts and issues–whose true nature or even existence may be hard to perceive–to show how they can be connected to our lives as individuals and collectively, up to and beyond societies, and ideally how such an understanding offers promise of a more just and sustainable world.
