The McSignment (Nov 6)

You need to visit some sort of retail establishment that adopts some principles of McDonaldization. Obviously the fast food places in town would work–you can avoid spending much money (you can just buy a drink and sit and observe). Otherwise, there are haircut places, clothing/apparel stores, retail (e.g., WalMart), fitness, etc.

Have read: the readings from week 6 on McDonaldization (this one in particular)

Your abstract: You should describe your observations–where you went, when, how long you were there, what you observed (this is where the readings will help you), your conclusions. You can hang onto these during the group part of the assignment to help answer the questions (and turn them in at the end of class).
