Small Groups: McDonaldization and Reality TV
Readings
- James Wolcott. 2022. Reality stars are just like us (book review of Danielle Lindemann’s True Story: What Reality TV Says about Us). February 12, New York Times.
- From week 6 lecture material (‘applying the principles‘)
To do:
Watch at least one episode of a Reality TV show–your pick.
On your discussion day: For your abstract, describe the reality TV episode that you watched (of course if this is part of your routine, include more than one). Include any observations you’ve made related to the two readings sources. Make sure to use full citations for your 3 chosen sources. No longer than a page needed–briefly summarize and tell what you got out of the assigned material. And include the sources you’ve used.
You should be able to figure out, more or less, what you’ll be asked to do in your small groups for this one.
You can email the abstract to me as an attachment or bring a hard copy to class.
