Yes, there are points attached to attendance in this class. One per day, to be precise. Students are entitled to two unexcused absences, but not on exam days or small group Fridays. The class as a whole and conversation is better when students attend and are engaged, so think of it as low-hanging fruit–you show, you receive a point. However, participation goes beyond just showing up (you’ll see this in the extra credit discussion).
