Quizzes

At the end of even-numbered weeks

We’ll have a quiz at the end of each even-numbered week through week 8. Quizzes are where your knowledge of the content for a two-week period from readings, online lecture material, and discussion boards will be tested, and how well you can apply the concepts. I’ll have the quiz posted by Saturday at noon, and you’ll have until Tuesday night (usually midnight) to complete it (Wednesday night for the first one). These will be timed, and once you start, you need to finish, so don’t open them up until you’re ready—that means you’ve done the readings and participated in the discussion boards (I’ll give you three hours—plenty of time).

Also, make sure you have checked out any lecture material online (in the ‘external links’ section) before you take the quiz. There will usually be 3 to 5 questions, either short answer, multiple choice, or fill in the blank, and each quiz is worth 30 points. Quizzes are open book, but before you do a mental fist pump . . . the questions are designed to assess what you’ve learned, not what you could memorize or find verbatim in notes, readings or the website. So prepare, and know where information can be accessed before you begin.

Quizzes will be available from the Canvas modules (even-numbered weeks). Open book, so take your time! Note: No quiz over the last two weeks because the term paper and discussion forums will suffice.

Quizzes will be worth 24% of your overall grade (120 pts, 4 x 30 pts)
