Catalog description

Climate change and migration are two certainties for humanity’s future in this century. Climate  change is already leading to migration  from a variety of sources that render  people’s living circumstances untenable—devastating storms, rising sea levels,  wildfires, unbearable heat, drought, water
shortages, etc.—a complex interplay that is reducing the sustainability of people’s livelihoods. This course will provide an introduction to climate change, migration —especially as it relates to climate change—responses attributable to this reshuffling of humanity by governments,  communities, non-governmental  organizations, and others. Its focus will help students better understand the  drivers of climate change, the geography and patterns of migration, their  interrelationships, and the responses and adaptations available to societies, and the stakes for humanity should current trends continue unabated.
